Nat Adkins

Nat Adkins earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas State University in 1973. Shortly thereafter, he began a distinguished executive career in ophthalmic healthcare. Beginning with Allergan (now Abbvie) he later joined Aquaflex Contact Lenses before transitioning back to pharma with Akorn Inc. Serving in various roles there he later directed Akorn as their President. In 1986, Nat co-founded OCuSOFT, Inc. alongside his wife and business partner, Cynthia Barratt. Over the past four decades, their leadership has transformed OCuSOFT into a globally recognized provider of ophthalmic products, with its trusted brands recommended by Eye Care Professionals and distributed through major retailers around the world. OCuSOFT Inc. led the formation of the Southwest Research & Technology Center, a consortium of ophthalmic-related companies working together to develop new therapies. Under Nat and Cynthia’s guidance, the Company has also earned numerous workplace honors while maintaining a strong commitment to community service and philanthropy.

A proud Forever Bobcat, Nat has remained deeply connected to Texas State throughout his life. A member of the Pillar Society and Alumni Life Member, he has generously supported a variety of university initiatives, with a special passion for the Musical Theatre program and student scholarships. His philanthropy has helped talented students pursue their dreams, reflecting his belief in the power of education to transform lives.
