Since earning her Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science from Texas State University in 2009, Dr. Shannon Simmons has built an impressive career at the intersection of microbiology, public health, and infection prevention. She went on to earn both a Master of Public Health and a Doctor of Health Sciences while advancing professionally from medical laboratory scientist to infection prevention leader. Today, she serves as Program Manager of Ambulatory Infection Prevention and Control for CHRISTUS Health, where she develops innovative strategies to protect patients and healthcare professionals across outpatient settings. Her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, combined with her expertise in infection prevention and public health, has established her as a trusted voice in a rapidly evolving field.
Beyond her healthcare leadership, Dr. Simmons is committed to educating and mentoring future professionals as an adjunct professor at Tarleton State University and through her service to national professional organizations. She has authored publications, presented at national conferences, and contributed to advancing best practices in infection prevention through research, education, and industry leadership.
