Diana Finlay Hendricks

Diana Finlay Hendricks (’11, ’14) is a distinguished journalist, author, and communications professional whose career has spanned more than three decades. After earning both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Texas State University, she built an award-winning career as a writer, editor, and photographer while also serving as a strong advocate for Texas music history and culture. Her published works include numerous articles in regional and national outlets as well as the acclaimed biography, One of the Fortunate Few: Delbert McClinton, published by Texas A&M University Press. In addition to her journalism career, she served as a founding member and director of communications for the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) Center at Texas State, where her work with law enforcement response to active shooter events earned national recognition, including commendation from the U.S. Congress.

Equally dedicated to service, Diana has contributed extensively to the San Marcos and Central Texas community and to her alma mater. She has held leadership roles with Strutters Always, the Bobcat Club, The Center for Texas Music History, the Wittliff Collection and the Alumni Association, and her efforts have supported scholarships, athletics, and the preservation of Texas State traditions. Her volunteerism has extended across education, civic engagement, and nonprofit organizations, earning her induction into the San Marcos Women’s Hall of Fame and multiple proclamations for her service. A Forever Bobcat Life Member of the Alumni Association, Diana exemplifies the spirit of Texas State through her professional excellence, community leadership, and unwavering commitment to advancing the university’s mission.
