Reece Morrison

Reece Morrison, Class of 1971, is a former NFL running back, successful entrepreneur, and devoted community leader whose life reflects both professional excellence and personal faith. After starring on the Bobcat football team from 1964 to 1967, where he led the program in rushing for three straight seasons, Reece was drafted in the third round of the 1968 NFL Draft, the highest draft pick in Texas State at the time. He played with the Cleveland Browns and later the Cincinnati Bengals until 1974, with one of his standout performances drawing praise from coaching legend Vince Lombardi. Alongside his athletic career, Reece also served six years in the Army Reserves. Following football, he built a thriving business career as founder and CEO of Morrison Wholesale and Morrison Real Estate Development and operated ABA Vending with his wife, Beverley, also a Texas State alumna ‘69.

Beyond his professional achievements, Reece has dedicated his life to faith and community service. He served as a trustee and officer of the CISD School Board for 12 years, coached Little League baseball, and supported local churches as a deacon and Bible study teacher. Inspired by his former NFL teammate Bill Glass, he became a leader with the Behind Prison Walls Ministries, sharing hope and testimony with incarcerated individuals. A proud Bobcat, Reece has remained deeply connected to Texas State through decades of involvement with the T Association Board of Directors, the Touchdown Team, and as a founding supporter of Bobcat Pavilion at UFCU Stadium. Inducted into the T Association Hall of Honor in 1985, Reece continues to inspire current athletes and students alike, embodying the strength, humility, and dedication that define Texas State alumni.
