Letter from the President

Hi Bobcats,

I am thrilled to begin my tenure as the Texas State Alumni Association President for the 2023-2024 term. It is my pleasure, along with my board of directors, to represent you – the more than 230,000 people who proudly call themselves Bobcats. The Alumni Association leadership continues to focus on elevating the alumni experience as well to support and serve our Texas State family alongside university staff and volunteers.

This year we will be creating and implementing a new Strategic Plan. Please keep watch for various opportunities to help inform our planning process. You can start by sending your feedback to alumni@txstate.edu (please add "Strategic Plan" to the subject line). We want to hear your ideas on ways to elevate the alumni experience and to meaningfully engage our community. We will review your feedback to help inform our planning process.

Being a member of the Bobcat family comes with an overwhelming sense of pride for our beloved alma mater. We will bring new and revitalized opportunities to you that allow you to express and grow your pride for the university. As the year progresses, we look forward to coming together both virtually and in-person, in support of Alumni Networks, Bobcat Athletics, Forever Bobcats, and much more.

With your help, we also look forward to celebrating the extraordinary accomplishments of alumni, faculty, and students. The Alumni Association also celebrates the Bobcat community with the Distinguished Alumni and Young Alumni Rising Star Awards, the LBJ Outstanding Senior Student Award, the Teaching Award of Honor and the Denise M. Trauth Outstanding Leadership Award. Nominations for these awards are open, or will open, later this spring. More information about all these awards, criteria for eligibility and nomination processes are available on our website. These awards serve as a reminder of the impact of Texas State and the promising future the next generation of alumni hold.

I am passionate about supporting the aspirations of our future alumni, and I am so pleased that the Alumni Association continues to award scholarships for students in need. We are committed to help propel students toward commencement and that gratifying moment of receiving their Texas State degrees.

All this is made possible by your generous contributions to Forever Bobcats. Gifts to the fund enable the Association to both elevate the alumni experience and support students in new and expanded ways throughout the year. We appreciate your annual giving to this effort to keep improving and growing your Bobcat experience.

We are also excited to host one of our favorite traditions - Ring Celebration! This event celebrates the special milestone in a student’s time on campus when they receive the visible symbol of Bobcat Pride: The Official Texas State Ring. Last year we created a ring scholarship to help students take part in this tradition and we’ll be sharing more information on how to participate in that soon.

I invite you to come along with us for the exciting year we have ahead. Whether you attend an alumni event, volunteer your time, or follow along on social media, we hope to connect with each one of you.

Once a Bobcat, Always a Bobcat!

Thank you,
Tracy
