Student Alumni Council

The Student Alumni Council is a student organization chartered by the Texas State Alumni Association. This group engages Texas State students with the Texas State Alumni Association through philanthropy and engagement, connects them with meaningful avenues for continued university support, and provides a clear pathway toward serving as leaders in the alumni community upon graduation. In addition to facilitating events like Step Up For State and Ring Celebration, the Student Alumni Council supports the initiatives of the Alumni Association's Board of Directors to engage current students.

Join the Student Alumni Council

Student Alumni Council members are enthusiastic and dedicated students who love Texas State, are interested in making the most of their Texas State experience while building their leadership and professional skills and are committed to strengthening the Bobcat community.

Undergraduate students from all majors and backgrounds are encouraged to apply to become members of the Student Alumni Council. Membership requirements include:

  • Full-time enrollment as a current undergraduate students during Fall 2024 – Spring 2026
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Good academic and disciplinary standing with the university

The Student Alumni Council applications are now open for Fall 2024.

Mali Cisneros

Mali Cisneros is a biology major from Eagle Pass who enjoys listening to music, spending time with friends, and volunteering. Mali loves the traditions of Texas State, the colors of campus, Sewell Park, and the sense of belonging and community on campus. After graduating in 2025, she plans on going to medical school and becoming a pediatric oncologist. At Texas State, she is a part of University Ambassadors, Bobcat Build, LBJSC Advisory Council, and the Student Leader Communication Council. Mali has enjoyed new experiences volunteering with the Student Alumni Council.

Sarah Cavender

Sarah Cavender is an anthropology major from San Marcos. Her favorite thing about Texas State is how easy it is to make lasting friendships and to connect with other students. Sarah enjoys painting, watching movies, and hanging out with friends. With plans to graduate in 2026, Sarah plans on pursuing a master's degree and aspires to work for the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency where she would help identify unidentified military service members. During her time on the Student Alumni Council, she has enjoyed meeting new people when volunteering and keeping alumni connected and feeling at home at Texas State.

Anisah Lopez

Anisah Lopez is a nursing major with a minor in criminal justice from Rio Hondo. Her favorite thing about Texas State is how beautiful the campus is. After graduation in 2025, Anisah plans on going to nursing school and working in a hospital as a labor and delivery nurse after graduation. At Texas State, she is a part of Alpha Lambda Delta, Latinas Unidas, and Pre-Nursing Organization. Anisah has enjoyed volunteering at the Distinguished Alumni Gala and the Alumni Association tailgates during her time on the Student Alumni Council.

Olivia Garcia

Olivia Garcia is a history major from Harlingen. Olivia enjoys volunteering at her church and going swimming at Sewell Park. Her favorite thing about Texas State is the campus and the lovely people she encounters. After graduating in 2024, Olivia plans on getting her master’s degree and becoming a history teacher. At Texas State she is a member of the Fellowship of Catholic University Students and Saint Paul’s Outreach at Our Lady of Wisdom University Parish. During her time on the Student Alumni Council, Olivia has enjoyed meeting different alumni and hearing their stories from Texas State.
